Tips on How to Paint Like a Pro 

Painting may be fun for some, but not for everyone. And for good reason. Painting anything in or on the house means it’s more than just your child’s science project. A lot of things should be considered. However, don’t worry too much. We’re here to give you tips to make your painting project a success, or least not a total fail. 

Tip no. 1:  Do proper inspection and preparation. 

If you see cracks and peeling areas on the surface you’re painting on, you need to delicately sand or scrape it. Rinse it properly before applying a primer or a coat of paint. This is due to the fact that the heaviness of the new coat will pull the old paint free. You’ll simply waste your money and time if you don’t handle those first. Nobody wants that to happen. Oily spots may likewise require a touch of washing with cleanser and rinsing with a flush of clean water after. If not, you can wipe the surface with a damp cloth. This way, the paint or primer will have a good surface to adhere to without any dust or grease. 

Tip no. 2: Anticipate the dry weather. 

Humid weather (aka rainy day) will mean nothing else than slow drying of your paints. Therefore, abstain from painting on a rainy day. On the off chance that you should paint when the weather is damp, take as much time as is needed. And if you’re using a slow-drying paint in a slow-drying weather, make the most out of it by correcting your errors if you have some, before proceeding onward to the following coat. But don’t do it too much and still avoid them if you can because it will show when you’re done. 

Tip no. 3: Purchase superior brushes, rollers, painter’s tape, etc.  

In case you’re spending on high-quality paint, you definitely should spend on superior tools as well so as not to compromise on the quality of the application and final result. Great brushes and rollers give incredible coverage upon application which means that you don’t sit idle and do paint re-application. Also, top of the line painter’s tape works effectively in fixing out paint drips and tiny brush splatters.  

 Tip no. 4: Protect the things you don’t want to be tainted with paint.  

Covering the floor, furniture, and other furnishings will take time. But trust us, you will never regret the time you spend you spent doing it. Buy drop cloths if you haven’t already, as well as plastic coverings.  

Tip no. 5: Use a primer.  

There are paints available in the market that are already formulated with a primer. You can use it if you have a smooth and good surface. If not, and if your last painting was almost a decade ago, then buy a separate primer. Use the right primer for the right surface and paint that will go on top of it.
