Maundy Thursday Thomas Mass

Atonement Lutheran Church

Introduced in 1988 in Helsinki, Finland, the Thomas Mass is a Lutheran worship service influenced by old liturgical traditions as well as by the spirit of ecumenism. The centerpiece of the service is a 20-minute “free space”—an opportunity for worshippers to enter into action and meditation at various stations: remembering baptism, anointing for healing, meditating on the stations of the cross, and participating in the foot washing.


Good Friday Tenebrae

The combined choirs of Atonement and Grace Lutheran Churches present choral works drawn from the centuries, including works by Victoria, Haydn and Casals.


Easter Sunday with the Cathedral Brass Quintet

We celebrate the Risen Christ through Word and song with music drawn from the centuries for choir, brass, bells and congregation.


Wartburg College Castle Singers in Concert
Wednesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Since its organization in 1950, the Castle Singers of Wartburg College (ELCA) have intrigued audiences with their musicianship and artistry. Specializing in all types of vocal jazz music, from early swing to avant garde, and accompanied by a full rhythm section, the group makes annual one-week concert tours in the United States and regularly travels abroad during the college's one-month May Term. Free will offering.

Michael Nigro, Classical Guitarist
Friday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Presently on the faculty at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California where he is the head of the guitar department, Michael Nigro’s debut recording “Homage to Piazzolla” was released to critical acclaim. A master guitarist, Nigro recently released a new recording, “Guitar Sudamericana,” which he will highlight during his performance at Atonement. Nigro’s program will feature varied works by prominent and less known South American composers—from folkloric dances and songs to sophisticated works full of colorful impressionism.
