Worship itself is an offering to God, a time to gather to hear the Word, to pray for those in need, to offer thanks to God for the gifts of creation, to receive the bread of life, and to be renewed for the daily witness of faith, hope, and love.

Whether a life-long Lutheran, new to church, or on the edges of faith, we welcome you to this community in Christ. To guests, strangers, and all in need, the Church offers God's grace.

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;come into his presence with singing." Psalm 100:1-2

Special Services

Advent Vespers
A meditative service by candlelight with lessons, prayer, and choral music drawn from the centuries - featuring music by Atonement's Carillon and Sanctuary Choirs and guests, the Boulder Chamber Chorale.

Easter
The Lord is risen indeed! The open tomb of Jesus is the door to a new way of being in the world. Easter is not one day but fifty. We celebrate the days of Easter with joyful worship as we explore the dimensions of new life in Christ.

Holy Week Worship
We gather in worship with the community of Grace Lutheran Church of Boulder for the pilgrimage of the Three Days: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil, culminating in the Celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord - Easter Sunday.

Lenten Vespers
Held with a soup supper each Wednesday evening during the season. This is a time for all who gather to focus on the destination of Easter, when we renew our baptismal vows and celebrate the paschal mystery of Jesus' death and resurrection.

Thanksgiving eve interfaith service
We celebrate with thanksgiving the gifts of God's creation through Word, song, and prayer. This contemplative service includes leaders and members from various congregations of the community at large.

Worship Ministries
Lutheran worship is often described as liturgical. The word means literally "the work of the people." All people of Atonement - members of the congregation, regular visitors, and guests - are invited and encouraged to participate in the liturgical life of the parish. Worship leader orientation sessions are scheduled throughout the year. For more information about participating in the worship ministries, contact Timothy Snyder.

Acolyte
Process into the sanctuary at the beginning of worship and light the altar candles. Participate during the offering. Extinguish the altar candles to end the worship service.

Altar Care
Set up and remove the communion service, and clean the linens used for communion. Ensure proper parapets are in place.

Audio System
Receive personal training! You will be able to record the service, adjust the input levels from each microphone, and adjust the levels going to the tape and to the main speakers. You will understand the overall operation of the mixer board, the sub-amp, operation of the tape recorder, where all the input jacks and speakers are, and what to do if there is a problem (such as feedback).

Communion Assistant
Assist during the sacrament of communion: distribute the elements or collect empty cups.

Fellowship Host
Take responsibility for overseeing the fellowship time before the worship service.

Greeter
Warmly welcome worshipers on Sunday morning.

Lector
Read the appointed lessons during worship service.

Usher
Distribute bulletins and songbooks, manage seating in the Sanctuary, collect the offerings, and guide those receiving communion.
